A terrible Tuesday for celebrity chef and entrepreneur Jamie Oliver.
The chef announced on Tuesday that his restaurant empire has collapsed and being placed into bankruptcy protection.
Jamie's Italian chain, Jaime Oliver's Diner at Gatwick Airport, his steakhouse Barbecoa and Fifteen London are all included in the troubles.
KPMG will take over as administrator adding that 22 of the group's 25 restaurants have closed with around 1000 jobs gone.
"I am deeply saddened by this outcome and would like to thank all of the staff and our suppliers who have put their hearts and souls into this business for over a decade," he said in a statement.
Over the last couple of years Oliver has pumped millions of pounds into the restos trying to save them however had to eventually admit defeat.
His international restaurants including Jamie's Pizzeria and Jamie's Deli will continue to run as normal.
I’m devastated that our much-loved UK restaurants have gone into administration. I am deeply saddened by this outcome and would like to thank all of the people who have put their hearts and souls into this business over the years. Jamie Oliver
