Of course that can be heard quite often across the United Kingdom.
Recently a news reporter decided to do a story regarding the importance of properly pronouncing words, talking to kids in school and people on the street.
Something that can be heard across England is the use of "a" instead of "er" in words like butter (butta) or letter (letta).
A local Middlesbrough man and the reporter had a sound off and it's quite legendary.
